Why choose Pearson Academics?

Simply put, we care! Unlike other agencies, this isn't about the money for us. We care about your child's development, progress, and future. Your family is our priority. That is why we only hire the best tutors, and why so much care and effort is put into matching each tutor with each child. We are always available for feedback, comments, concerns, or praise, and we track your child's progress to ensure that they are getting the best experience possible.

How much tutoring is normal?

This is dependent on the student's needs, and every student is different. On average, students receive 1-2 hours of tutoring a week. The more subjects they need tutoring in, the more time they require. It is not recommended to skip weeks, as this can result in the student falling behind or forgetting what they've learnt.

What qualifications do your tutors have?

There is no standardized licensing or certification process for tutors available in Canada. All of the Pearson Academics tutors are, at minimum, enrolled in University in a degree stream that pertains to the courses they are teaching. Some tutors have completed degrees and are working professionals, some are certified teachers, but all are comfortable with and confident in the courses they are teaching. All tutors are rigorously interviewed and must demonstrate a deep understanding of the courses they teach.

All tutors have completed background checks, have no criminal history, and are cleared to work with minors.

My child needs tutoring in several subjects, or may need tutoring in new subjects next semester. Can you accommodate this?

Absolutely! We do our best to provide you with one tutor who can tutor all of the subjects your child needs help with. If this is not the case, we will provide you with two tutors to ensure that your child is getting the most out of their tutoring experience.

If your child switches subjects when a new semester begins, they can continue with their current tutor if that tutor is qualified to teach that new course. If not, we will provide you a new tutor who can take over in the new course.

We will work with you to make the transition as seamless as possible, to ensure little to no interruption to the student's schedule.

Do you come to my home?

Yes. We provide in-home tutoring, but we will also meet you in an appropriate public space such as a library or a quiet coffee shop if that works better for you.

How does scheduling and availability work?

We match you with a tutor who is best suited to help you with your academic needs, and who is available when it is most convenient for you. You schedule your lessons directly with your tutor.

Are there any registration fees or other costs?

No. You only pay for the lessons you receive. You do not have to pay to join or leave.

Am I required to sign up for tutoring for a certain number of months?

No. You are free to come and go as you please. Tutoring will be provided to you when you need it, for as long as you need it!
